Samson a.k.a. Whisper’s Secret … Adoption complete - Samson is safe and loved in Castle Rock, Colorado!
On April 14, 2006, Whisper, a wonderful mare we bought at another horse rescue’s “Herd Reduction Sale” held in August 2005, gave us the surprise of a lifetime! She delivered her very own healthy and strong colt. Mama & baby are doing great! The colt appears to be a sorrel with a prominent blaze and four white feet. We purchased his mom, Whisper with a young filly at her side; although she appeared to be slow to recover her “girlish figure” and she gained plenty of weight and good muscle, we saw no definitive signs she was pregnant. She nursed her baby Elsie until late January, so when she started showing enlarged teats, we thought perhaps she had mastitis, not fresh milk! Samson easily accepts the halter and is learning to load in our horse trailer. He is confident for catching in the pasture, leading, fly spray, bathing, routine vet and farrier care. He loves to be groomed and acts like a big puppy when we scratch his belly (standing up or lying down.) He is friendly and eager to have attention. We are eager to experience his progress and look forward to the day he is available for placement in that “perfect home.” Come visit me at Trail of Hope Horse Rescue & Rehabilitation Center in Sedalia, Colorado |
