A dramatic paint
half-Arab, Dream Catcher brings out softness in all who meet her.
Recently Dream Catcher has had
major breakthroughs. She accepts a halter and goes on short walks near the
barn. We started working together using a natural horsemanship approach. She
is developing confidence and trust while on the lead. She ground ties and loves
to be groomed. Some of our youngest volunteers share the joy of being with her
and groom her whenever they have a chance. Dream Catcher has a fairly severe
club foot, so our expectation is that she will be placed as a companion horse.
Corrective surgery is an option, but beyond the means of the rescue's funds.
Her emotional wounds appeared so
deep; her ability to trust and her confidence seemed extremely limited. When
she came to us she craved human company, yet feared human touch. We spent long
hours just being with her in her stall and run.
We named her Dream Catcher
because of the legend of the dream catcher. “If you believe…the good in your
dreams is captured in the web of life and carried with you…but the evil in your
dreams escapes through the hole in the center of the web and is no longer a part
of you.”
